The System of Rice Intensification (SRI): a challenge for science,and an opportunity for farmer empowerment towards sustainable agriculture

Increasing demand for cereals produced from limited natural resources stimulated the Green Revolution in grain crops like wheat and rice. But the gap between potential and actual production continues. Concerns about sustainability, and the social and technical shortcomings of the Green Revolution, have triggered a number of alternative crop production strategies. One, in particular, the so-called System of Rice Intensification (SRI), is attracting attention by governments, civil society organizations and farmers in Asia and elsewhere.     

Who has benefited from the health services system for the elderly in Japan?

This paper examines the demand and supply of medical services for the elderly in the health services system characterized by per-month fixed copayment and selective capitation fee scheme for outpatients with chronic diseases. The results indicate that the beneficiary, in particular the household dependent, visits a physician more frequently because the actual copayment decreases for the household dependent, but is nearly the same for the head of the household. Physicians, however, provide more services to the beneficiary partly because of the lowered copayment and partly because of the capitation fee scheme, which they will select instead of the fee-for-service scheme only when capitation is more profitable than Fee-for-Service. As a result, physicians as well as the insured benefit from the health services system.     

Influence of the sector and the environment on human resource practices' effectiveness

The aim of this work is to examine the effect that human resource practice has on performance. From a database made up of 250 companies in Spain and by means of a regression analysis, we test empirically whether human resource practices generate positive results under any circumstance or if their effectiveness depends on certain contexts. In this respect, focusing the study on the activity sector and the environment, we analyse whether high levels of competition in the environment and service companies constitute more attractive contexts for the adoption of high involvement practices.

本文结合公共关系学科特征及互动式教学法的优点,结合现代高职院校公关教育特征,对互动式教学法在公共关系课程教学中的应用提出了具体建议。     

The incremental time costs of children: An analysis of children's impact on adult time use in Australia

Abstract

Raising children takes both time and money. Scholars have sought convincing ways to capture the costs of children, but even when these estimates include indirect costs, such as mothers' foregone earnings, they fall short of the true time costs involved. This paper uses data from the 1997 Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Time Use Survey to study how the allocation of time differs across households with varying numbers and ages of children and how households with children differ from those without children. It also examines the intra household division of time resources, showing how childcare, related unpaid work, and the total market and non-market workloads compare for a couple in the same household. It includes secondary activity in an analysis of total parental time commitments to give a more accurate picture of the time cost of children than is possible on the basis of analyzing “primary” activities alone.     

人口老龄化背景下养老保险制度面临的挑战及对策

财务会计课程教学方法研究

财务会计这门课程随着我国经济发展形势的变化也在不断地发生变化,多变性决定了教好这门课程有一定的难度。本文结合作者多年的教学体会,对财务会计课程的教学目标进行了研究,分析了目前财务会计教学中存在的问题,介绍了两种教学方法:纠错法和问题导向法。     

开放准入秩序与我国内资企业创新活动——基于动态面板模型的经验分析

本文将我国民营企业发展、国有企业产权制度改革、外商直接投资的扩大、内资企业参与全球分工的深化纳入到诺思的开放准入秩序的分析框架,运用动态面板数据模型进行检验得出:非国有经济的发展、内资企业参与国际分工以及外资企业的研发活动对内资企业的创新活动产生了激励作用,但强度不大;而在民营经济发达地区,通过提高非国有经济占比来增加创新激励的效果已不明显,但参与国际分工与外资企业的研发活动产生的作用均有所加强。

中华礼仪文明教育活动是人文素质教育的一种好形式。它能培养学生文明之举、敬畏之心、感激之情和奋发之志。开展中华礼仪文明教育活动应体现知行结合原则、学生主体地位、教师指导作用、教育规律和学生成长规律。     

Explaining the accounting disclosure index of stock exchanges by foreign exchange market activity

In this article, researcher-created accounting disclosure index of 23 stock exchanges for the year 1992 and its relationship with variables including foreign exchange turnover, economic and financial indicators were investigated. The accounting disclosure index of global stock exchanges crafted by Adhikari and Tondkar (1992) was regressed on foreign market turnover which was utilized as a proxy for foreign exchange market activity. The OLS results supported that along with the activity of foreign exchange market; GNI per capita, market capitalization, energy and electric consumption, number of listed companies were significantly related with the accounting disclosure index. The foreign market turnover was found to be positively influencing the accounting disclosure index. The models explained about 73% of the variation in the index with an F-ratio of 26.56 indicating the overall significance of the model.
